Neuropsychological Evaluation

Neuropsychological evaluation is an assessment of the function of an individual’s brain. This evaluation provides data that gives a glimpse of the structural and functional integrity of your brain. The neuropsychological evaluation consist of an interview and administration of a battery of tests. Persons who would benefit from this type of evaluation are; Traumatic Brain Injury, Independent Medical Evaluation, Academic Testing, Memory Loss, Stroke, Hypoxic and Anoxic and other conditions which impact brain function.

Psychological Evaluation

 

Psychological testing is the administration of psychological tests that are objective and standardized to measure of manifested behavior. Persons or situations where this evaluation would beneficial are determining:

  • Emotional functioning

  • Armed forces clearance (fitness for duty)

  • Probation

  • Weapons permit

  • Psychosexual

  • Court-ordered psychological assessment

  • Differential diagnosis and other conditions which impact psychological functioning.

Psychological Assessment of Bariatric Surgery Candidates

Psychological evaluation prior to bariatric surgery  is to determine the presence of any psychiatric conditions that would impair the patient's ability to handle the surgery. Patients are evaluated with regard to symptoms of depression, anxiety, mania, psychosis, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, history of abuse, family history of mental health issues, and any treatment experiences. All these condition and more could suggest the surgery process is counterintuitive and may place the patient in danger if this information is not conveyed to the surgery team.

Problems helped by psychotherapy include difficulties in coping with daily life; the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss, like the death of a loved one; and specific mental disorders, like depression or anxiety. There are several different types of psychotherapy and some types may work better with certain problems or issues.
